Characteristics of Role Model Teacher:
The qualities of an ideal teacher help the student to improve their skills and academic progress. According to Shwaars, Weissbourd and Wilson, students experience self-efficacy with the teaching of exemplary teachers. Robin says that as a teacher, one can influence students by role modelling in six ways.
1- Imitation of Teacher:
Students are the best observers in different situations what the teacher does some activities students see and what they say students listen very carefully then teachers should keep in mind what they do in certain situations. Whatever they say will have an impact not only on the teacher himself but also on the students who consider him as their superhero. This means that whenever students face a similar situation, they will definitely think about what their teacher did in that situation and try to repeat the action and words of the teacher.
2- Decisions in Difficult Situation:
Teachers as role models should think aloud in difficult situations, they should talk about the merits and demerits of different decisions, so that it is possible for students to develop practical skills in situations and events. Always remember that to make good decisions one must have the ability to find reasons. The teacher must talk to the students about why the decision made in the particular situation was better, why that decision was made and what its effects were. The technique of think-aloud acts as a guide for students to make good decisions in difficult situations.
3- Accepting Errors and Correction:
In today's age, we can't call anyone a perfect person, no one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is that when you make a mistake or take a wrong decision, people are watching and learning from you. Also let them see how you correct or fix your mistake. In this way, it will help the students to learn that it is normal to make mistakes but it is not the end of the world, these mistakes can also be corrected and besides all this the teacher should accept his responsibility as soon as possible. You should admit your mistake or apologize for wrongdoing. By admitting or apologizing for a wrongdoing, you are setting an example for them by making amends for the damage you have done. They are learning directly from you, your this practice guides the young minds of the students.
4- Live on Determination:
For an exemplary character, sticking to one's promises and commitments also constitutes an exemplary character. As an adult, we are sometimes busy, sometimes tired or overwhelmed by the workload, but a teacher with exemplary character is punctual and completes his work in difficult situations. He should be a person who does not give up, keeps his promises and accepts the challenge of difficult situations. In this way, students will think that if our teachers can do this, why can't we?
5- Attitude:
As a role model teacher, you are expected to treat students the way you expect others to treat you. Your actions tell how you treat others. How do you treat your family, colleagues, staff and friends? How do you show gratitude when others help you? These actions show students how they can succeed in life by respecting others. How they should respect others.
6- Different Abilities:
A good role model teacher is not only capable of teaching but also has many other qualities, he may be a good swimmer, cook good food, design well, be a good computer programmer or Be a website developer and participate in sports, etc. These are all social activities that everyone can actively participate in. When students see their role model teacher demonstrating their skills in various activities, they also have the passion and interest to acquire such skills and they follow their teacher and participate in various social activities. Besides learning from their teachers students also learn from these activities. They are not the birds in cage that they expect the art of flying remaining in cage.
