Importance of population:
As far as the importance of population for a country is concerned, its importance can not be denied. Let’s see why is human population important?
1:- Economic development:
Economic development is a field in which population is
needed for every step forward. Economic development adds new sectors to any
country. To take charge of these new fields the human population is inevitable.
2:-
Defensive integrity:
The secret of a country's security lies in its strong
ability to defend its geographical borders. Due to the lack of this capability,
an enemy can attack this weak country. The guarantee of strong defence lies on
manpower.
3:-
The Industrial Revolution:
Industrial revolution is gaining importance in the
present era. Rapid development depends on the use of machines. But to invent
the machine itself and to run the machines in the factories, manpower is
needed. If there is no or less population, it becomes impossible to step into
the industrial field.
4:-
Administrative matters:
Man, whether of any tribe, whether he lives in any
family, a society or under modern states, has a central sense of the need for
persons who are more capable, far-sighted and talented than ordinary people.
Tribes, families, societies of such competent individuals provide central
administration for the state. The larger the population, the more complex the
administrative affairs and the more competent people will be needed to run
them.
5:-
Conquer the universe:
Allah Almighty the creator of this universe has said O
People this universe is for you, spread in it, man has been spreading in the
planet since time immemorial. In this century, man has subjugated the winds in fulfilment
of the order of Almighty and now he has set foot in space as well. The dream of
conquering the universe is now becoming a reality.
6:- Inventions and Innovations:
The number of things that provide maximum comfort to
human life is increasing day by day. A peaceful life has become possible on
this earth because human being are inventing new things for their human
fellows. A considerable number of scientists and thinkers are busy creating new
things and bringing discoveries. The more experts a country has, the more
discoveries it will have.
7:-
Human welfare and thought:
Out of a limited population, every single grain appears
to be intelligent. However, among the large population, the able people also
appear in large numbers. Thinkers who present ideas related to human welfare
and experts who change the direction of human thinking about mutual relations
and the universe, are more born in the country where the population is
relatively high.
8:-
Exploration of natural resources:
Nature has enriched every region of the planet with some
kind of wealth. The Middle East is home of oil, Bangladesh is famous for peat
flax, Egypt's cotton and plastic of Indonesia are natural resources of the
countries. Natural resources are hidden wherever they are. manpower and their
skills are needed to bring them out.
Problems
of low population:
If the population of a country is very small and its
resources are abundant, then it is said that the country is underpopulated. Under
population is also an economic problem according to experts. Problems that
occur because of this are as follows:
1:-
Limited use of resources:
Due to low population, a country cannot make full use of
its resources. Its minerals, rivers, springs and other resources are left
unutilized. Nature is graciously disposed but there is none to get benefits.
2:-General
poverty:
Due to low population, people are generally suffering
from poverty. Due to being unable to get benefits from the blessings of nature,
people remain economically where they have been for centuries.
3:-Non protection from enemies:
If an area is rich in natural blessings and the number of
its inhabitants is small, then the security of that country or area cannot be
guaranteed. The enemy countries are ready to occupy this country thinking it as
a ripe fruit.
4:-A
shortage of thinkers:
In the case of a low population, any country is unable to
produce a large number of such thinkers who can give a new direction to the
nation, provide leadership in various fields and present new ideas for the
welfare of nation by following which, a nation can secure its future.
5:-Shortage
of technical experts:
The problem of low population is a basic problem of the
shortage of technical experts. Artisans and experts are needed in every walk of
life but in view of the scarcity of population, these experts and artisans will
also be available in small numbers. Due to the lack of these experts, the
natural process of failure in machines, buildings, roads and factories will
continue, but there will be no hands available to prevent or repair this
process. Failure to repair of social property becomes a great economic crime.
6:-Slow
economic growth:
In societies where the population is limited compared to
the natural resources, the process of economic development is also slow there.
The focus of economic development is on progress in industrial, agricultural,
craft, educational and scientific sectors, etc. Therefore, a country suffering
from low population problem, is deprived of the ability to progress in these
sectors and is left behind in the race of economic development.
7:-
Deadlock of cultural evolution:
A society that is suffering from a issue of low
population, there the cultural progress stops. The surrounding nations are
advancing culturally and economically, but the country, which is suffering from
population disparity, remains culturally backward. There is a lack of many scientists, artisans, scholars,
teachers, inventors, politicians, leaders, businessmen and lawyers.
8:-Technological
backwardness:
The development of knowledge in a country also slows down
due to low population. Because all the splendor of the world are because of
man. Progress in science and art occurs when thousands of people are going
through the process of research and investigation and their efforts are opening
new chapters of thought for each other.
When the population is limited unnecessarily of a
country, the knowledge and research becomes limited.
Problems of overpopulation:
From the above mentioned points, it is clear that falling
below a suitable level of population is not in the interest of the country.
Similarly overpopulation is also becomes a major problem for a country to grow.
Now let's examine the problems that appear due to overpopulation.
1:-Burden
on resources:
Due to overpopulation, the burden on the natural
resources of a country increases. The area of cultivable land does not seem
to be sufficient to meet the needs of the population. Both villages and cities
are unable to provide the housing facilities for the population. Due to this,
the number of jobs in industrial sectors is limited and the number of job seekers
is high due to this the wages of the workers becomes low.
2:-
Decreasing per capita income:
Due to overpopulation, the per capita income of every
person of the nation is limited. The amount of jobs that national resources can
provide, is determined by reaching a certain point in terms of productivity as
the number of job seekers increases.
3:-
Poverty and misery:
Due to overpopulation, even the employed people begin to
grind in the mill of poverty and misery. Employment opportunities in factories,
farms, and other sectors do not expand as rapidly as population increases. The
situation gives rise to poverty.
4:-
Manpower wastage:
Due to overpopulation, lacs and crores of years are lost
which could otherwise be used in some useful project. Due to overpopulation,
the number of people increases, but the employment and work opportunities do
not increase. Therefore, many people have to face unemployment. Unemployed
people benefit from bread, cloth, housing, education and entertainment
facilities from the national income, but they do not become a cause of an
increasement in the national income.
5:-
Low quality of health:
In countries that suffer from overpopulation, the quality
of health of the people there also goes down. Due to over population, adequate
food is not available to everyone. Lack of food is become a cause to diseases.
On getting sick people begin to become weak and unhealthy due to mixing in
substandard medicines and food.
6:- Shortage of food:
Overpopulation leads to immediate shortage of food.
Natural resources increase the national production at its own pace, but the
needs of the growing population are still not met, so every person has a
limited share of food through which they cannot take proper care of their
health.
7:-
Inflation:
Due to overpopulation, the general level of prices in the
country begins to rise rapidly. When the population starts to increase in the conditions
of shortage of goods, unemployment and lack of production, the balance of
supply and demand deteriorates. Due to scarcity of commodities, the average
level of prices rises rapidly and leads to high inflation.
8:-
Lack of general facilities:
Overpopulation is such a serious problem that in its
presence, the concept of numerous conveniences of life is lost. Railway is an
easy way of travel, but due to overpopulation, every compartment is over
crowded and the concept of comfortable travel is lost. The same condition is of
buses, educational institutions, markets, buildings, supply of drinking water
and parks.
9:-
Social disorders:
Crimes such as smuggling, robbery, hoarding, murder,
corruption and kidnapping are mostly prevalent in the society, where the
problem of overpopulation is on the rise.
10:-
Lacks in Management:
Due to overpopulation, people's needs become more. The
management is considered disabled due to its inability to control the universal
problems and the administrators get a chance to play with the management.
Bribery, wrong decisions, nepotism and authority plagues the administrative
structure. .
11:-
Decrease in literacy rate:
Equal opportunities of education are not available to
every child due to overpopulation. So a large number of people are deprived of
education.
12:- Unfair distribution of wealth:
When a country
becomes overpopulated then looting, manipulation and other social evils are
born. Due to these defects the society is clearly divided into two classes. One
is a class of rich and powerful people and the other is a class of
poverty-stricken poor people. The rich people spend on luxuries and their new
generation fails in performance whereas the poor have not much money to live
with dignity.
