The functions and roles of social
institutions are as follows:
i:- Economic Functions:
Economic institutions fulfill the economic needs of the society. These needs are fulfilled under the system of production, distribution of wealth, expenditure and services. Thus economic institutions fulfill the basic needs of society.
ii:- Political Functions:
The main task of the political social organization is to create discipline in the role of the members of the society so that the society appears organized. There should be social organization in it. This work is done by the respective departments of the government.
iii:- Family Functions:
The main function of the social institution is to maintain the survival and continuity of the human race. The new generation should be brought up properly. And this is done through families and marriages.
iv:- Religious Functions:
The main objective of a religious institution is to satisfy the religious and spiritual needs of the society. Religious institutions work for the understanding of the relationship between man and his creator (Allah Almighty). Then society is blessed with competence and stability.
iv:- Social Control:
An important purpose of social institutions is to maintain social order in the society. Social institutions create ideal roles and social discipline through workers. Through this social formation, members are expected to follow high value patterns in their normal social life.
vi:- Social Transformation:
Social institutions also protect the hereditary society by transferring it from one generation to another. If this change does not happen, the existence of the society will not be maintained. That is why in the daily routine of life we do what we are taught by the social process according to the needs of the future. And this is how social change continues to happen.
vii:- Socialization:
Social institutions play an important role in the social process of individuals. That is why the members of a society have the characteristics of their own society and they look different from other societies. For social institutions to maintain their existence, it is necessary to maintain the purposeful characteristics of the institutions and therefore social institutions organize the social organization of their members.
