Newspapers

In modern times, there are three major institutions of journalism: newspapers, radio and television. All three are playing an effective role in bringing social, political, economic and educational changes, but in our view, newspapers are effective means of communication.

There are following reasons for this.

1.Recordable:

The programs that appear on radio and television, not everyone can save them. Once heard or seen it is not possible to see and hear it again. The newspaper can be viewed and read for reference at any time. The uneducated people could hear/ listen  the newspaper  from the educated people when they read.

2.Details of Newspapers

Radio and television could not tell the full details of the news and could not broadcast every type of news. Compared to them, newspapers include all kinds of news and give details as far as possible. All areas of human interest are found in newspapers.

3.All Types of News are Publishable:

Newspapers can publish any news whether it is against the government or against the interests of any international power. Articles are also published in it which criticize the government's actions and mark the incidents of certain groups of the society. In contrast, radio and television are semi-public institutions. There may be a lack of commitment to government policies. Then the news of any religious group or conflict is not broadcasted at all or is broadcasted in a very cautious manner for the fear of disturbing public peace.

4. Real Picture of Incidents:

Newspapers are more popular because they are printed with the help of modern machines and other devices and are distributed to remote parts of the country.

Advances in newspapers and magazines and transportation have made it easy to get newspapers to every citizen and villager.

Despite of radio and television, people turn to the newspapers  to get the real picture of the situation.

5- Mirror of Social Thought:

Television and radio have not allowed citizens to freely express their views on national affairs, although for the development of society, it is necessary that ordinary citizens not only follow the policies of the government and foreign policy, but also  offer healthy tips. In newspapers, readers bring their own point of view through posts and articles. Thus the newspapers are mirrors of social thought.

 6.Material of Foreign Newspapers:

Our newspapers usually include articles published in foreign newspapers and magazines. The aim is to let our citizens know what is being written about their country in the outside world. However, our citizens do not have access to all the newspapers and magazines printed in the outside world and cannot buy them easily, so familiarity with the important content printed in them can easily be accessible.

7.Promotion of Patriotism:

Since newspapers are freer than radio and television, they are full of criticism of the actions taken by the government or any group against the nation. Positive thinking is brought forward and national unity is promoted. Those who work against the interests of the nation and the country are identified and the nation is informed timely. In this way, newspapers help a lot in instilling patriotic feelings and shaping public opinion.

8.The Cheapest Source of Information:

Radio and television are innovative media. A common citizen cannot easily buy them. Every year they have to renew their license. Compared to them, newspapers can be obtained by paying a small fee for them.

9.Compatibility with World:

Newspapers have become a means of bringing people and nations of the world closer to each other. Even within the country, they promote  integrity and harmony.

They promote discord and are a very important means of settling disputes and establishing peace among nations at the global level as well. Newspaper correspondents send diaries from different countries of the world from which we can find out what is happening in other societies while living in our own country. If something new is invented somewhere, all the societies of the world get familiar with the details of this invention through newspapers.

10.Material of Interest:

Newspapers are the most effective means of communication because they contain material of interest to every member of the society. Besides the news there are cartoons as well.

In the editorials, the editor of the newspaper analyzes the situations and events and presents his point of view. Columns and features light-heartedly criticize social attitudes. All types of news and other articles are included for health, literature, politics, morals, religion, entertainment, spirituality. Every section of the society is fully represented in them. There are special pages for women, labor, students and farmers.

Special numbers are also published on certain festivals and important national days to highlight the importance of that day.
