The Communicative Importance of Language:
(i) Important Source of Communication:
Language is the
most important source of communication. Through language, feelings and ideas
can be easily communicated to each other and one can easily understands the message, so it is not too
much to say that communication is
important because of language.
(ii) Source of Expression:
Through language, a person can communicate with others and the new thoughts and feelings that are present in the human mind can be easily transmitted.
(iii) External Effect:
It is because
of language that the external world has more influence on the
human being. When people speak to other people, they try to reconcile their
internal world with that of the outside world, so language helps us to accept
external influence.
(iv) Establishment
of World Community:
It is because of language, today
we have come very close to all the people of the world and share their sorrows and
happiness. They convey their impressions
to them through language itself. Thus, language has played an effective role in
establishing an atmosphere of brotherhood and thanks to it, an international
society is developing.
(v) Awareness of environment:
Man is
actually psychologically full of curiosity, who sees the events and situations
in his surroundings day and night, changes in international relations,
conflicts between nations, agreements and wars between them, and all this is
the essence of human nature. So he communicates to gain awareness from his
surroundings and uses language to communicate. From this point of view, the
communicative importance of language is also recognized.
(vi) Various topics:
Only certain things can be
communicated to other people through signs and symbols, whereas language has
the characteristic that it has the capacity to cover all kinds of topics. So a
wide selection of topics can be easily communicated.
(vii) Two-way communication:
Through language, communication can be done with
different people and the feelings and ideas that are conveyed, the reactions of
people can also be easily ascertained and discussed, so we can say that
language is an easy means of two-way communication.
(viii) Symbolism:
Symbolism has great
importance in our daily life. What we cannot say in common language, it is said
in the form of specific verbal symbols, which makes expression easier and the
process of communication is done through a symbolic process. However, words do
not have their own meaning, but the meaning we associate with words is their
meaning.
(ix) Communication at Large Level:
Unlike symbols and signs, language
can be communicated on a large scale and more minds can be influenced through
language.
