Characteristics of Society their kinds and definitions:
1-
Harmony of thought and action:
Unity of thought and action is the most prominent feature of
society because society is actually a collection of like-minded people and this
same thinking only compels them to cooperate with each other for common
interests, because in a society where there are ideological differences, The colour
of, selfishness and views is visible. Therefore, by the harmony of thought and
action, uniformity is created between them.
2- common goals:
Society is formed for common purposes. They are not
temporary or transitory but eternal and permanent. Achieving these common goals
leads to unity and cooperation among people. These alliances and collaborations
helps to form a society.
3- Durable and permanent:
Society is permanent and sustainable. On the basis of common
goals, a permanent and lasting relationship is established between the members
of the society and they constantly strive for these goals. It is this state of
permanence that distinguishes society from other associations that are formed
to achieve temporary goals.
4- Natural agency:
Society is a natural human institution. It does not come into being artificially every individual becomes a member of society immediately after birth.
5– Universality:
Society is inclusive. All matters of human life are included
in it. No aspect of an individual's life is beyond it. All the relationships of
the individual, whether conscious or unconscious, are dependent on the society.
6- Variability:
Society is changing. Individuals and society have their own
rules and laws, but they are not static, rather they continue to change along
with individual changes, thus the process of change continues in society.
7- Universal nature:
Society is universal in nature. It is free from regional limitations. It may
consist of a few dynasties and many states or a state may have many societies
as there are many societies in India. Islamic society is universal in nature,
Muslims living in any region of the world are members of Islamic society.
8- Organized society:
Since society is a governing body, it has its own rules and
regulations. These rules and regulations distinguish this society from other
institutions of its kind. If a person violates these rules and regulations, he
is considered to be guilty of a social violation.
Interrelationship of Individual and Society (Objectives);
1- Man
is a social animal:
Individual and society are inseparable. The relationship
between the two is very deep. From birth to death an individual needs the
support of society. Society fulfills all his needs. Besides, the personality
and character of an individual is built by living within the society. What the
Greek thinker Aristotle said thousands of years ago is still true today that
man is a social animal. Even if an individual is disconnected from the society,
still at some stage he needs the society.
(“Man is a Social Animal)"
2-
Survival of species and human development:
When a human being is born, he is completely helpless, he
cannot even drink a sip of water by himself. Unlike animal children, raising a
human child is a very difficult task. If there is no society, the child dies
soon after birth and gradually the human race ends. The survival of the human
race and the upbringing of the child is possible only by living in the society.
3- Power of speech:
Man is a rational animal. Allah Ta'ala has given man
countless abilities. These abilities are developed in the society. If the
individual does not live in the society, the development of these abilities is
not possible, for example, the power of speech can be obtained only when the
person stays within the society, if he is left in the forest away from humans,
he will not be able to learn to speak.
4- Education and training:
The education and training of a child is due to the society
in which he lives and the type of family he belongs to get the same type of
education and training. And develops his mental abilities accordingly.
5- Civilization and cultural development:
The development of civilization and culture is also developed
in the society. The development of human language, culture and knowledge,
philosophy and science is all possible within the society. Humans have largely
controlled natural calamities. The manifestations of nature have been subjugated.
New comfortable inventions. All this is possible living in the society.
6- Transfer of inheritance:
Society transfers the developmental experiences of one
generation to the next generation. For centuries, human heritage is passed down
to the next generations because of society. If there was no society, the
development of sciences and arts would not be passed on to the next generations
and everything would be reduced to dust.
7
Fulfillment of requirements:
Fulfillment of numerous needs of the individual is possible in
the society. A person needs bread, clothes and basic necessities of house and
many other things. Thanks to the distributive principle, members of the society
continue to fulfill each other's needs. If there is no society, every
individual has to provide bread, cloth and house by himself.
Collective development:
The collective development of all individuals is not limited to a particular group or class, but the collective development of individuals is the purpose and responsibility of society. Which is possible only in society to him.
Based
on the above points we can say that individual and society are inseparable.
