Floods in Pakistan, social media and the response of citizens:
According to the BBC,
""Millions of people have been affected by floods in Pakistan, hundreds have been killed and the Government has declared a national emergency. ""
The climate has changed around the globe 🌐 during last few years ,unexpected rains ,floods and storms start when there are no chances or expectations of them at all. The same thing happened in Pakistan. The unexpected rains started last month and caused heavy floods in South Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan and now the flood is flowing in KPK, uprooting many people their houses luggage and cattle have been destroyed. Thousands of people have drowned and lost their lives .
People are running fund raising campaigns and this campaign is very successful only because of social media. Especially Facebook platform is very effective as live videos are being uploaded and watched by billions around the globe 🌐 and the inhabitants of this universe called earth are spreading their helping hand. The news and information fly fast like a jet through social media and everyone can watch the true picture of the incident happening anywhere on earth. Now the people living in any corner of the world are connected to each other and they are able to share their happiness, sorrows and problems with each other and they help each other ignoring the man made boundaries, this is a great achievement of man which unite the people giving them a platform. These floods and so many other calamities showed that all human beings forget the differences of colour, race and creed when they see their fellow being in trouble. A few days ago I saw in a messenger group that a friend requested add from the Facebook friends who are from different parts of the world ,for flood affected people , everyone contributed as much as it was possible.
Many teams ,groups and NGOS ,are working there in affected areas . They are providing food ,blankets, tents and so many other things for the victims. And it would not be too much to say that the rehabilitation of the flood affected will be come true soon. The government should also do something more for the victims. Though the country has appealed for more international aid and prime minister Mr. Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Islamabad and brief them about the worse situation by the floods in Pakistan.
